The microbiome is made up of all the bacteria, fungi, viruses, and their genes that are naturally present in our bodies. Although microbes are too small to be seen with the naked eye, they play a vital role in our well-being and health.
They protect us from pathogens, support the development of the immune system, aid in digestion, etc. Microbes affect our health in many ways. Some make environmental factors less toxic for us, while others have the opposite effect. The basic human microbiome is formed in the first years of life, but it can change over time. It depends on our diet, medications, and other environmental factors.
The microbiome in our gut consists of trillions of microbes and its imbalances manifest in chronic problems such as allergies, various kinds of digestive problems, chronic inflammatory diseases, and mood disorders. It is the underlying cause of many age-related problems and diseases.
A balanced microbiome keeps us healthy and slows down our aging process.
The microbiome test includes a comprehensive analysis of gut microbes. The focus will be on the microbes that are most likely to disturb the normal microbial balance. Intestinal permeability (leaky gut syndrome), which underlies many chronic problems, is also assessed. We are the only clinic in Estonia to offer an intestinal permeability assessment.
The test at the Happy Aging clinic is the most comprehensive microbiome test on the market, as it identifies not only microbes but also important viruses, parasites and fungi. In addition, it assesses markers that are vital to the optimal functioning of the digestive system: digestive enzymes, inflammatory markers, immune markers, gluten sensitivity markers, intestinal permeability markers, and others.
The sample is brought to the clinic and the results will be available within 21 days. After the results arrive, you will be invited to an on-site medical consultation.
Indications:
- Digestive issues
- Gastritis
- Gluten intolerance
- Intestinal dysbiosis
- Leaky gut syndrome
- Suspected presence of a pathogen
- Inflammatory diseases
- A weakened immune system
GI360 Test
The GI360 test goes beyond standard microbiome analysis, covering over 45 biomarkers to provide a comprehensive overview of gut health. This advanced test evaluates not only pathogens and inflammatory conditions but also a wide range of additional factors critical to gastrointestinal balance.
Utilizing DNA sequencing technology, GI360 assesses the diversity, abundance, function, and metabolic activity of gut microorganisms—offering a deeper understanding of the microbiome’s impact on the host’s overall health. The test also delivers actionable insights for developing personalized treatment strategies.
Key biomarkers assessed include:
Elastase 1, steatocrit, beta-glucuronidase, FOBT (fecal occult blood test), secretory IgA, anti-gliadin IgA, calprotectin, zonulin, Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), dysbiotic bacteria, viruses, yeast culture, butyrate, and pH level.

Comprehensive Microbiome Test
The Microbiome Test offers an in-depth analysis of the microorganisms present in your gut, with a focus on those most likely to disrupt the normal microbial balance. Uniquely in Estonia, this test also includes an assessment of intestinal permeability (leaky gut syndrome), a key factor in many chronic health issues.
In addition to bacterial profiling, the test evaluates the presence of viruses, parasites, and fungi, as well as key markers essential for optimal digestive system function. These include digestive enzymes, inflammation markers, immune system indicators, gluten sensitivity markers, and intestinal permeability indicators.
Key biomarkers assessed include:
Elastase 1, steatocrit, beta-glucuronidase, FOBT (fecal occult blood test), secretory IgA, anti-gliadin IgA, calprotectin, zonulin

SIBO test
The SIBO test (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) is used to detect an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine. While most gut bacteria reside in the large intestine, the small intestine is normally a relatively low-bacteria environment. When bacterial overgrowth occurs in the small intestine, it can lead to symptoms such as post-meal bloating, reflux, nausea, and abdominal pain. Digestive disturbances may include either constipation or diarrhea, depending on the type of overgrowth. If these symptoms appear within 30–60 minutes after eating, SIBO may be suspected.
Excess bacteria in the small intestine can interfere with the absorption of essential nutrients, including vitamins (e.g., B12, D) and minerals (e.g., iron, calcium), leading to deficiencies that impact energy production and overall health. The fermentation process caused by bacterial overgrowth can also trigger inflammation in the small intestine.
Since SIBO symptoms can mimic those of Helicobacter pylori overgrowth, we offer the option to test for both simultaneously. H. pylori is a bacterium that may cause stomach infections, with symptoms such as heartburn, abdominal pain, bloating, belching, nausea, loss of appetite, anemia, skin rashes, gastritis, and stomach ulcers.
The SIBO analysis is performed as a breath test. Samples are sent to the USA for analysis, and results are available within approximately 3 weeks.
